Painting the exterior of your bath in a colour of your choice can help compliment an overall design scheme.

A visit to our production facility and Head Office in Kent is highly advised, as here you will be able to accurately select which size is best suited to your project. Made from the very best copper and brass sheet metal, then nickel-plated in your desired finish, each Catchpole & Rye Nickel Bath is made to the highest possible standard.

All our finishes are lacquered as standard, but if you want a living finish that will naturally patina over time we can do this on request. You can also choose to paint the exterior of our Bateau Baths in a colour of your choice to complement either polished nickel or enamel interior.

Polished Nickel
The reflective qualities of this striking finish are perfect for bringing a room to life. It is also our most popular nickel finish due to its versatility across a range of interior styles.

Brushed Nickel
Matt in appearance, this variation is a subtle way to introduce silvery metal tones to a room and also provides a fantastic contrast when paired with a polished or enamelled interior.

Antique Nickel
Presenting as an aged matt effect, this bold finish introduces darker tones than our brushed nickel. It’s perfect for those moodier settings and industrial interiors.

FAQs

Generally the our Nickel Bateau’s are made from copper that has had nickel electroplated onto its surface. This is similar to the process used to nickel plate a tap or a shower.

Yes it is the original plated finish. In order to prevent brass taps from oxidising in the late 19C nickel was applied to the surface. Chrome did not become widely available until the 1920’s.

We would recommend either Silver Nickel or Black Nickel taps and fittings to match the nickel on the bath.

Our nickel baths sit on an integral plinth which means the base of the bath is around 150mm from the floor. This is generally adequate space to allow the fitting of a bath trap and outlet pipe. If necessary we can cut a suitable hole at the rear of the bath to allow the waste pipe to exit into the wall.

This is certainly possible. It is a really practical space saver – particularly in Guest Rooms. You will need to fit a suitable shower and curtain rail.
