The Brass Bateau Collection
Since Roman times, brass alloy was produced for a myriad of uses. Made from both copper and zinc, brass exudes a warm and comforting appeal, unequalled to other metals.
Following the same manufacturing process as copper baths, these unique and handcrafted pieces are painstakingly hand finished in our workshops in Kent, in the south-east countryside of England. From the glamour of highly polished brass, to the sleek look of brushed brass, you will find a finish to suit all tastes. Weathered Brass in particular is our most popular finish option.
Available in three sizes with five signature external finishes, the Brass Bateau has the versatility to suit any bathroom style from traditional to modern. Our brass baths are available in standard lengths of 1500mm,1700mm and 2000mm, and we can manufacture bespoke sizes to suit your individual requirements. Where possible a visit to one of our Showrooms is advised so you can check which model is most suitable for your particular application.
All our brass baths are made to order from high gauge brass and finished to the highest standards in our Workshops in Kent.
All our brass bath finishes are lacquered as standard, but if you want a living finish that will naturally patina over time we can do this on request. You can also choose to paint the exterior of our Brass Bateau Baths in a colour of your choice to complement either a polished copper or enamel interior.
If you wish to see your brass bath in production, why not arrange an appointment to visit our Workshops in rural Kent. Here you can see firsthand the craftsmanship and attention to detail required to produce a really traditional brass bath.
Polished Brass
The reflective qualities of this striking finish are perfect for bringing a room to life. It is also our most popular brass finish due to its versatility across a range of interior styles.
Brushed Brass
Matt in appearance, this variation is a subtle way to introduce golden brass tones to a room and also provides a fantastic contrast when paired with polished brass or nickel interior.
Antique Brass
Presenting as an aged matt effect, this bold finish introduces darker tones than our brushed brass. It’s perfect for those moodier settings and industrial interiors.
Weathered Brass
A beautifully organic finish, our weathered brass mimics the natural aging process of brass and lends itself to a more rustic setting. Pairing this with a nickel interior really brings the finish to life.
FAQs
Brass will oxidise quite quickly if exposed to either air or water so if you wish to maintain a high lustre on your Brass Bateau then it is best to have the surface lacquered. This will make it impervious.
This is when the surface of the bath is left untreated and allowed to oxidise naturally. Initially this oxidisation will be uneven but over time you brass bath will attain a leathery brown tone.
They weigh approximately around 50kgs so two people can easily handle them.
The Brass Bateau are manufactured from brass sheet that is formed into sections – rather like pieces of a suit – and welded together. The entire bath is then polished to achieve a singular uniform finish.
This would not be a problem. We have manufactured baths up to 1000mm wide. We may need to reinforce the base to ensure adequate support. It is all part of the service.
