Floating Flowers & the Beauty of the Bath
Every May, the streets of Chelsea come alive in a way that few other weeks in the London calendar can match. This Chelsea Flower Show week, our London showroom windows have been transformed into something quietly extraordinary: an idea of heaven, of beauty, of the ethereal.
Commissioned by our Head of Design, Lizzi, the floral celebration in our London Showroom is an acknowledgement of a week that matters deeply to Catchpole & Rye, and an opportunity to bring our sanitary ware into conversation with the natural world in a way that feels true to who we are.
Again, this year Lizzi collaborated with the talented Jen Stuart-Smith, Head Designer at Blooming Green, a local Kentish flower farm, to create a design concept rooted in the idea of the ethereal. The theme of Chelsea in Bloom this year is Out of this World, but the pair took that in a particular direction: not space, not stars, but heaven. Beauty without effort. Grace. The kind of thing you might encounter in a walled garden on a perfect June morning. The clouds of dried blooms, pale whites, soft pinks and gentle greens, are suspended on large hoops that float above the centrepieces in the London showroom windows. The effect is like something between a garden in the sky and a dream.
Beneath the floating floral displays, our pieces hold their own beautifully.
The Verdigris Bateau sits at the heart of one window; our copper bath hand finished in the distinctive bluish-green patina complements the softness of the florals above: something enduring beneath something ephemeral. The pair of Pyrford Vanity Units painted in Night Flower, a deep and confident pink, are topped with Arabescato marble counters with a deep, intense veining, carry a sense of striking drama in the opposite window. Venture into the Showroom, and you will discover encircling the La Cage Shower, with its own hoop of blooms crowning the shower, with something that feels more like an altar arrangement than a bathroom fitting.
We warmly invite you to come and see the windows of our London Showroom for yourself. The team is on hand all week, and we would love to speak with you.

The flowers are there until Sunday. The brassware, as ever, is here for a good deal longer.
